My first ever SX guitar, got this last year since i just fell for the color. Come on its not feminine looking, i think it rather has that classic color tone to it. The tinted maple neck is just awesome looking. Ok its $99 what would you expect from guitars on that price list in walmart or ebay for a brand new guitar..probably toys? so save yourself the trouble of having to get that plywood made stuff they usually sell that has the same price tag as this.
Specs, the body is made of alder(neat!), and the neck is maple and also the fretboard is maple..so the plus part.. the maple is somewhat flame figured which gives this cool look + the vintage tint the necks are finished with. The finish is decent its not customshop perfect but the poly finish is exactly thin enough that it doesn't feel it overpowering the resonance of the body.
Hardware: they are the same quality as the squire guitars..they do what they do..another interesting thing about this guitars. Modifying these is such an easy task if you want to improve their overall tone.

vintage blue color
some flame figure on the neck

a very important part is an adjustable truss-rod, if a guitar doesnt have one..to me its not a guitar!
As what i do to some of my guitars, i like to improve their performance and tone. so here's what i did to the SST57 pics below
I got parts from Azguitarparts.com (mint green pickguard and roller string trees)

The pickups are EDEN Blues Chanter (found in ebay), perfect match to this guitar as i say!

The last piece i changed to optimized the guitar is the saddles, if the saddles are of better quality such as steel..the improved spank of tone is just very audible. I got the saddles from GFS or GuitarFetish.com

so here's an actual demo of my SST57
